Latin Dances and Their Varieties

Latin Dances and Their Varieties

Freestyle Dances Are of Great Interest Today

Latin dances, which started in Latin American countries, especially Cuba and Puerto Rico, and spread throughout the world, have become quite popular today. This dance type, which is particularly popular among the younger generation and for which they attend courses to learn, is very dynamic and eye-catching. Latin dances are divided into 3 different groups: ballroom dances, social dances, and freestyle dances. The main ballroom dances include cha cha, rumba, swing, mambo, bolero, waltz, tango, Viennese waltz, foxtrot, samba, jive, paso doble, and quickstep. Social dances, performed in groups or as a pair, include Argentine tango and flamenco. Traditional Cuban Latin dances include salsa, son, mambo, cha cha, merengue, conga, bolero, rumba free, samba, and lambada. Dances such as Oriental, sirtaki, Rock'n roll, and disco are also freestyle dances. Salsa, which is very popular today, is considered among Latin dances in terms of style, although it first originated in the Spanish Harlem area of New York State, United States, by people of Latin American origin.
